What Is Eclipse Nights Sóller 2026?
Eclipse Nights is not a single stage or a mass festival placed on top of Sóller. It is a cultural route unfolding across eclipse week, with small events, local venues, artists, musicians, makers and food projects joining a shared programme.
The idea is simple. Thousands of people will travel to Mallorca for the 2026 total solar eclipse. That extraordinary attention should also create space for the culture already here.
Instead of treating Sóller as a viewing platform, Eclipse Nights invites visitors to experience it as a living valley:
- local music and intimate evening performances;
- art, photography and installations connected to light and landscape;
- Mallorcan food, citrus, olive oil and shared tables;
- traditional and contemporary voices from Sóller and Mallorca;
- activities hosted by participating venues across Sóller and the Port.

Sa Claror: A Local Cry Beneath the Eclipse
In Mallorcan Catalan, claror is more than brightness. It can be the first light, a glow in the distance, or the moment when something becomes visible.
Sa Claror is the cultural heart of Eclipse Nights. Its visual story places Darkness in red against two brave women holding the light. A human dimoni faces them, not as a fantasy monster, but as part of Mallorca’s living popular culture.
There is no passive saint waiting to be rescued. The women stand together. The dimoni is human. Darkness and clarity meet face to face.
That encounter expresses the question behind the project: when a global event brings enormous attention to a small place, what will that attention reveal?
Why Local Culture Matters During the Mallorca Eclipse
A total solar eclipse can be measured in seconds, angles and visibility maps. But the experience is always shaped by place.

Yet landscape alone is not enough. A place is also its language, rituals, creative work and everyday relationships. If visitors leave with thousands of photographs but no understanding of where they have been, the opportunity disappears with the light.

Port de Sóller gives the project its natural horizon. The harbour opens towards the west, where the eclipsed sun will descend late on 12 August. Boats, lighthouses, water and the silhouettes of the two headlands will become part of a scene that cannot be separated from the place itself.
